CHARO CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTERWith the primary goal of providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that will provide the maximum skill attainment for each child, enabling them with the skills to be successful in their transition to kindergarten. The CHARO Child Development Center provides a secure, comfortable, yet stimulating environment, which encourages children to grow and develop to their maximum potential. CHARO uses the High Scope approach in teaching children, fostering autonomy, self-esteem, and problem solving skills by allowing children to make choices. Additionally, CHARO provides children with opportunities to learn their letters, numbers, shapes, and colors, while encouraging emotional, social and physical growth. CHARO utilizes a holistic approach to child development, engaging families to be active in the development of their child. The CHARO Child Development Center serves over 300 Pre-K children annually, and interacts with over 600 families per year. Of all children served, 100% are from low income families and 40% enter the program with limited in English speaking skills. CHARO has been successful in transitioning children to kindergarten with 100% speaking, writing, and reading English.
